The Africa-Canada International Convention on Human Rights Promotion

Welcome to ACIC 2025

The African Center for Refuges in Ontario Canada is pleased to present to you the 3rd Africa-Canada International Convention on Human Rights Promotion. An international platform that will connect 2SLGBTIQ+ people from across Africa and Canada to discuss the Human Rights challenges our communities face in our unique yet very often intersectional contexts.

The Conference shall run on four overreaching themes;

1. Health and Human Rights

2. Business and Human Rights

3. Immigration and Human Rights Implications

4. Digital Human Rights

The convention will bring together 2SLGBTIQ+ activists, allies, young leaders, scholars, notable human rights defenders, legal and health practitioners from Africa and those in Canada to formulate a way forward on advancing the rights of 2SLGBTIQ+ people, learning practically from Canada’s success story, pulling synergies amongst the members of the 2SLGBTIQ+ movement with potential partners, and creating awareness on an international platform about the risks faced by LGBTIQ+ people across the African continent and very often when they move to other countries to seek asylum.
